The middle years are a critical period of transition in any child’s development as physical, emotional, and social changes occur. Therefore, it is essential that middle year’s education continues to emphasize the development of the whole child rather than just the child’s intellectual abilities. For these reasons, in grades 5-9, IAS creates a nurturing setting that best accommodates the specific developmental needs of the children. The core subject teachers meet each week to monitor students’ academic progress and development. This team of teachers work together to plan interdisciplinary units as well as team building activities.
